ABOUT SPACE ALMA

An instrument
company,
in orbit.

Space Alma builds the listening instrument: a wide-band RF payload that flies on 6U to 12U platforms and turns the radio noise of the ocean into positions, tracks and identities.

TEAM

Physics, software,
and a decade of SDR.

Two complementary trajectories: one through Silicon Valley systems software, one through experimental physics instrumentation. Both converge on the same payload.

Founder · CEO

Matias
Lavista

Physics-trained software operator. Builds the company around the instrument.

B.S. Physics, MIT · M.S. Computer Science, UChicago.

COO at Form.com, through its acquisition. Led the product management organization and grew revenue by developing key customer use cases.

15 years in software, more than a decade of it in the United States. SDE in Silicon Valley including AWS: C, Linux kernel, network packet firewalls, hardware.

Head of R&D

Manuel
Garcia Redondo

End to end Software Defined Radio development: from the antenna to the SDR signal processing.

PhD EE, SDR & Signal Processing: joint doctorate between UNSAM and KIT Karlsruhe, summa cum laude. Thesis selected by INVAP as a top 3 engineering thesis in Argentina.

10+ years designing ultra-low-noise receiver systems, from microwave systems to real-time digital processing. Embedded systems, RF electronics, hardware design.

Eight years at QUBIC, an observatory for Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) radiation, where he delivered scientific instrumentation.

Career built at ITeDA (CNEA-CONICET), with an 18-month international stay at KIT. Has taught at UTN, UNSAM and UNLP.
